The Breakdown
Absolut Tabasco (Pernod Ricard) · Sydney Harbour volcano launch
A volcano on Sydney Harbour: making ‘spicy’ impossible to miss
Launching a vodka–hot-sauce collab, Absolut Tabasco built a 360-degree volcano with a giant bottle erupting from it. It's subtle as a sledgehammer, and that's the point.

The TL;DR (too long; didn't read)
- Giant volcano sculpture at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, on display until Oct 5.
- Backed by OOH (out-of-home advertising), streaming, social, creators, hospitality trials and retail (Campaign Brief).

01
Say the benefit visually
‘Spicy vodka’ in one image = a volcano. You don't need to read anything to get it, which matters for outdoor and social, where people glance for a second.
Harbour location + scale = photos by tourists and locals for free.
02
Two brands, one idea
Absolut brings vodka credibility, Tabasco brings heat credibility. The collab works because each brand fills a gap the other can't claim alone.
03
Stunt + system
The sculpture creates the moment; the trials at The Oriana, creator content and retail listings convert it into purchases. A stunt without the ‘buy it here’ bit is just a photo op.

Composite brand alliances
Combining two brands can create a product with attributes neither brand could credibly claim alone, as long as the brands complement each other.

Distinctive brand assets
Colours, characters, shapes and sounds that people link to only your brand. They help ads get correctly attributed, so the brand (not the category) gets the credit.
Here: The iconic bottle shapes are the hero, so the photos are unmistakably branded.
